Overview:
AFGRI is offering a 3‑year in‑service Apprenticeship Programme (for matriculants only) to train and qualify individuals as Tractor Mechanics or Earthmoving Mechanics. The programme begins with a 6‑month probation, followed by formal contract employment and hands‑on industry training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn to repair, service, and maintain agricultural and earthmoving machinery
- Perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and breakdown repairs
- Assist with parts stock control and inventory management
- Provide customer support within workshop environments
- Participate in general workshop duties and technical rotations
Requirements:
- South African matriculants only
- Valid driver’s license
- Basic administrative, communication, and computer skills
- Entry via one of two qualification routes:
- N2 Certificate with: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Diesel Trade Theory, plus one of: Industrial Electronics, Technical Drawing, or Motor Trade Theory
- OR a Matric Certificate with: Mathematics (not Math Literacy), Physical/Technical Science, Technical Mathematics, or Engineering Graphics & Design
- Willingness to complete additional N2 subjects via supported training if needed
- Goal-oriented, detail-focused, self-motivated, and team-driven mindset
