Overview

Comotrans Bulk Transport is seeking a highly organized and experienced HR / Industrial Relations Officer to join its team in the transport and logistics sector. This role plays a critical part in managing employee relations, ensuring labour law compliance, and supporting workforce administration across depot operations.

The successful candidate will oversee key human resources functions, including onboarding, employee documentation, disciplinary processes, attendance management, and driver administration. This position is ideal for HR professionals who have experience within logistics, transportation, or supply chain environments and are passionate about maintaining positive workplace relations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Prepare and administer employment contracts and HR documentation.
  • Monitor time and attendance records for depot employees.
  • Investigate employee misconduct and workplace performance concerns.
  • Conduct disciplinary hearings in accordance with labour legislation.
  • Issue disciplinary warnings and maintain employee records.
  • Upload and manage driver information on the Transport Management System (TMS).
  • Maintain and update driver compliance documentation.
  • Assist with driver recruitment and selection processes.
  • Distribute and track personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support employees with leave applications and HR-related queries.
  • Ensure compliance with South African labour laws and company policies.
  • Process acknowledgements of debt (AOD) documentation where required.
  • Promote positive employee relations and workplace compliance standards.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Degree or qualification in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Employment Law, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar HR or Industrial Relations role.
  • Experience working within a logistics, transport, or supply chain environment.
  • Proven experience conducting disciplinary hearings and employee investigations.
  • Strong understanding of South African labour legislation.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong administrative and organizational abilities.
  • Own reliable transport.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience using a Transport Management System (TMS).
  • Previous exposure to driver recruitment and compliance administration.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety procedures.
  • Additional HR certifications or labour relations training.
